A message from Executive Director Kirk Craig

Pastor Kirk

Since 2005, Agape Development has been on a journey of neighborhood transformation.  We have followed the examples set by local and national leaders who seek to follow Jesus in dynamic, sacrificial, radical, and generous actions that make life better for eternity, starting with the present.  Following these examples and listening to the Lord has led to some incredible experiences for all of us.  Lives have changed, including my own.  We've seen incredible milestones of employment, reconciliation, marriage, graduations, home purchases, births, health, salvation, and baptism.  I'm overwhelmed when I think about it!

And the work is not by any one person or family.  We have all been blessed to be neighbors in this OST/ South Union community on the edge of Third Ward.  The supportive relationships, the fellowship, the milestones, the struggles, and victories have shaped our collective time here.  The help has come from every side including generous donors, tireless volunteers, hospitable neighbors, strategic advocates, well placed people of peace in business, government, and education, and prayer warriors all over the world.  Since our founding, dozens of friends have put their talents, time and treasure into the service of the neighborhood by way of Agape Development's activities.  We are humbled and honored that so many of you would entrust yourselves to our mission and work.

I think about Paul's letter to the Philippians I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Let us keep remembering one another in prayer, because the work isn't finished yet.  We hope to continue shaping the future of our community into one that more closely reflects God's Shalom.  Our work, the work of the people of OST/South Union, must continue to provide opportunities for residents that are independent of financial circumstances.  The work must see and value the created goodness God places in 77021 and the residents therein.  The work must bring people into relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ who loves, saves, heals, forgives, and sends.  It is He who will complete the good work of the gospel in each of us.

Bless you for joining the work.

Sincerely,

Kirk
